Comal y Canela started as an OG viral spot during COVID and has only gotten better since — they've expanded to a bigger restaurant and the food is still exceptional. Everything I've tried here is great and their birria tacos are the best I've had anywhere. ## What to Order Birria tacos are the star — get them. But the menu is full of authentic Mexican dishes that are worth exploring. They handle the halal/non-halal separation properly (they've shown the kitchen setup on video) and there's even Islamic decor alongside traditional Mexican art, which speaks to who they are. ## Must Try Birria tacos. Best in the city. The meat is right, the consommé is right, the cheese pull is right — everything about it is right. ## The Verdict The number one halal Mexican spot in Toronto. A little pricier than some alternatives, but absolutely worth it. Comal y Canela is a place you go back to, and every visit is great. The expanded restaurant is worth checking out if you haven't been to the new location yet.
