Pizza Pizza's halal story is a "yes, but" — and it varies more store-to-store than most people realize.
What's actually halal
- Halal-certified chicken toppings and wings at participating locations — this is the common halal offer across the chain.
- A few stores go further. Some locations in heavily Muslim areas carry halal pepperoni and halal beef — the Kanata Centrum store in Ottawa openly advertises all three. These are exceptions, not the rule.
What's not halal: the standard pepperoni, sausage, bacon strips, and the kitchen itself — dough, cutters, surfaces, and ovens are shared between halal and non-halal items.
The judgment call
If halal-labelled toppings from a shared kitchen are within your comfort zone, Pizza Pizza works as a convenience play — confirm what your specific store carries before ordering, because the answer genuinely differs by location.
If your standard is a fully halal kitchen, this isn't that. The GTA has dedicated halal pizza shops that remove the question entirely — the list is below.
