Here's the uncomfortable truth about halal dining in the GTA: dinner is solved. Burgers, shawarma, karahi, steak — pick a lane, we have a ranked list for it. Breakfast is where halal eaters still settle. The classic brunch menu is a minefield of pork bacon, sausage, and "it's just a little ham," and most of the places that solve it haven't been verified by anyone.
So this list is short on purpose. Every spot on it was visited in person, halal status checked on-site. As we verify more breakfast spots, this page gets updated — that's the deal.
Eggstatic — the full brunch experience, fully halal
No. 60 · Hit · Oakville (Winston Park) + locations across the GTA
Eggstatic is the answer to the question this article exists for. A Palestinian-owned breakfast chain where the entire kitchen is halal: beef bacon, halal sausage, and no asterisks on the menu. Pancakes that taste like someone cares, proper omelets, and curly fries that have no business being this good at 10 AM.
We visited the Winston Park location in Oakville — halal status checked on our visit, and it earned a Hit. Hours: Tue–Fri 9 AM–4 PM, weekends 9 AM–5 PM, closed Mondays. Locations have been multiplying across the GTA, which is great news for everyone west of Toronto.
Order: the pancakes, an omelet, and curly fries for the table.
Al'Deewan — the 7 AM move
No. 28 · Solid · 1415 Kennedy Rd, Scarborough
Different school of breakfast entirely. Al'Deewan is Lebanese manakish and pastries, fresh out of the oven starting at 7 AM daily — the earliest verified halal breakfast on the list. Za'atar manakish, cheese, meat — this is what breakfast looks like for half the Middle East, at $-tier prices.
Fully halal on our visit, verdict Solid. If your morning starts in Scarborough, it starts here.
Order: za'atar + cheese manakish, and take a box of pastries to go.
Ghadir — breakfast at the cult shawarma complex
No. 08 · 1848 Lawrence Ave E, Scarborough
Ghadir is a Middle Eastern operation so sprawling — restaurant, butcher, grocery — that most people don't realize it opens at 8 AM (Sun–Thu, from 8 AM to midnight; later on weekends). Fully halal, and the morning is the quietest time to experience a spot whose shawarma has a genuine cult following.
Order: whatever's coming off the grill, plus groceries for the week on your way out.
What we're testing next
The "halal breakfast near me" search is one of the biggest unanswered questions in GTA food — and frankly, the verified supply doesn't match the demand yet. Halal brunch cafés are opening across Mississauga, Vaughan, and downtown Toronto, and they're on our visit list. Know one that deserves a verdict? Submit it — we only publish after we've been in person.
